Abstract:   (452 Views)
Introduction: Due to the adverse effects of deep vein thrombosis after surgery and the unknown prevalence of this complication after knee replacement surgery in patients with a history of chemotherapy, we decided to follow the present study with the aim of investigating the frequency of deep vein thrombosis. Knee replacement surgery should be performed in patients with a history of chemotherapy.
Methods: A total of 189 patients who were candidates for knee replacement surgery with a history of chemotherapy during the 36 months ending in March 2016 referred to Shohada and Imam Reza (Tabriz Medical Sciences) hospitals were enrolled in this descriptive-analytical study. After surgery, patients were evaluated for the incidence of deep vein thrombosis and the factors affecting it based on the instrument of determining deep vein thrombosis and Doppler ultrasound and were evaluated by Spearman correlation and regression tests.
Results: The standard deviation ± mean score of deep vein thrombosis was 43.49 ±6.66, which indicates that the prevalence of deep vein thrombosis in patients after knee replacement surgery with a history of chemotherapy is at high risk. The prevalence of deep vein thrombosis was 49 (25.92%) that the variable number of chemotherapy sessions (P=0.001) was associated with deep vein thrombosis.
Conclusion: The prevalence of deep vein thrombosis following knee replacement surgery in people with a history of chemotherapy above the normal mean has been reported in studies that require more therapeutic and preventive measures.
